It wasn't easy and it took a little luck but Brooke Tatnell roared to his second IRA win of the young season on Saturday night at Rice Lake Speedway in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Tatnell started fourth in the 22-car field and it was polesitter Travis Whitney who was the show for the first 2/3rds of the event. Whitney, making his first start of the 2010 season, jumped off the pole position and opened up a large lead while Mike Reinke, John Haeni and Tatnell swapped spots behind him.

On Saturday, May 22nd, the Interstates Racing Association Sprint Car Series is scheduled to make the first of two appearances this year at the Rice Lake Speedway. The IRA shows at Rice Lake have been a very popular attraction for race fans since the IRA first ran at Rice Lake in 2007. Scotty Neitzel won that event while local favorite Billy Balog won in 2008. Last year California traveler Tim Kaeding won the feature event. A second show scheduled last year for the first time was rained out in August.

There was snow on the ground Saturday morning in Rice Lake Wisconsin and the temperatures never rose out of the low forties all day, but Adams-Hansen Inc. were determined to put on a race program, and race the Rice Lake Speedway did. A full field of drivers and the die hard fans showed up for some bone chilling action, both on and off the track, with Robby Bunkelman and Brandon Davis topping the Modified and Midwest Modified divisions respectively. Other winners on week two of the 2010 racing season included Shane Kisling, Jimmy Randall and Dusty Brown.

Under the ownership of Adams-Hansen Inc, a new era of auto racing started Saturday night at the Rice Lake Speedway, and despite blustery conditions with an occasional rain drop thrown in for good measure, a fine crowd and over one hundred race cars signed in for the opening night of action for the new ownership team.

The first race activity for the new ownership group of ADHAN Inc. at the Rice Lake Speedway will have to wait for another week. A rainy Saturday afternoon forced officials to cancel the racing action early on Saturday afternoon.
